
In accordance with Act C of 2003 on electronic communications, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary has appointed Annamária Szalai as President of the National Media and Electronic Communications Authority with an effective date of 10 August 2010. Under applicable legislation, Ms Szalai is to remain in office for a term of nine years. Concurrent with the appointment of its President, the National Media and Electronic Communications Authority is set to begin its operations as an autonomous administrative body which, governed by the Constitution and pertaining legislation in force, shall report to the Parliament on an annual basis.
